Generations

Generations

One thing that our generation has more then our parents and grandparents generation is more experience with the new technology, such as new phones, cars, computers and etc. Another thing that our parents and grandparents generation don't have is advanced weaponry like we do now. One positive thing is that we have advanced technology. Second positive thing is that we have advanced in medicine. Some of our clothing has gotten better then before.
In our parents and grandparents generation they would wear baggy clothing instead of things that fit, But some of our generation wear clothing that are tighter then others. But even though our generation have these advanced things we are still trying to produce even more advanced things. One negative thing that our parents and grandparents generation had was less advanced medicine to cure diseases and etc. One good thing in their generation was they probably had more jobs and got well paying jobs. But another negative thing in their generation was they didn't have better equipment to clean the streets up.
In my parents and grandparents generation was they did not worry to much about pollution and what it can do to the world. I also think that they weren't too worried about global warming. Today's generation worries more about the things like pollution. They also worry about global warming. One more thing they worry too much about is whats going on around the world then now.

What do you like about yourself?

what do you like about yourself?

The one thing that I like about myself is how I don't get myself into drama. The reason why I don't get into drama is because I think that drama is a bad thing that some people like around them. I wish I was better at improving my learning pace or learning at a better pace then most people. I also want to be able to understand what the teacher is teaching me. One last thing that I would like to improve is maybe try to be more productive in life.
The reason why I would like to learn at a better pace is because I feel as if I struggle with some of the things that I do at school.

Also I would like to understand what I am being taught because most of the things that I am being taught I don't really know. One last thing that I want to improve is trying to be more productive with what I do because I feel as if I am not very productive. I think that if I can improve in these categories I would be able to do things more well and understand it better. I want to be more productive with the things that I do because I feel as if I am wasting time. Also I think that it would be a big improvement in my life if I did something productive.

Self-assessment

Self-assessment

For this first marking period I think I am doing well except in chemistry, before I go into details some of the classes that I have is 1st period: literature, 2nd: Hotel management, 3rd: Chemistry, 4th: Algebra 2, 5th: Spanish, 6th: Junior seminar.
For my first period class I think that I am doing well, But I also need to work on structure when I am typing up or writing something. In literature I can do some research or maybe ask the teacher for an example to see how to build a better structured story or information about something. I also think that literature is fun for me when we specific activities. Second period I am passing with a B, because most of the time we copy notes and do projects, maybe twice in every 2 months. But for hotel management maybe I can participate and try my best to get a better grade. Hotel management is also a fun class that taught us about business and how the business life works.  Chemistry is the only class that I am not doing so well in, only because I do not understand the work that we are being taught. But I think I can improve that by trying to ask more questions and try to get some tutoring from the teacher. I am also lazy to do my work in chemistry, most people say that it is hard and I believe that it is hard trying to understand the work. I am doing well in algebra 2, but I think that I can do even better by participating more in class. I also should do some extra credit work after school. In Spanish I am doing well because I understand what the teacher is teaching me. For examples I am learning how to write verb words and hoe to say them. But in Spanish I know that I can do better then what I am doing now, other then that I am doing well. In junior seminar I think that I am doing okay, But I should try to improve in trying to be less lazy so that I can do better. Sometimes I don't understand most questions on the blog, maybe I can improve that by asking the teacher to explain it in a way that I can understand it.

Setting For Mediocrity

Settling For Mediocrity

The reason why I think people are afraid of failure is because they don't want to be embarrassed, or might be afraid that someone will disappointed in them. Some people are also lazy and just don't want to try new things, and challenge their selves to what they really know. I know that I have experienced this a few times before such as the time when I was given the opportunity to go on a trip to the spirit of Philadelphia, but I chose not to go on the trip. I think if I went on the trip I would of had more fun and experienced new things, maybe even meet new people. Another time I was given the choice to join build-on, but I did not. I think if I went on the trek I might have learned a new language or experienced more new things around the world. I think the way that people can overcome the fear of failure is maybe go back on the exact day that you were given the opportunity to do what you were given, I think people would have done that. Some people would also like to have someone to motivate them and support them for when they needed it the most. Some people even take the failure and use it as there as advantage to motivate them for what they do now.

Why did I do it?

Why did I do it?

In my 6th grade year my teacher had told us "If you want to pass this class you will have to learn how to salsa dance". I did not want to do it at all. I was super anxious to do it.  But, surprisingly I manage to pick myself up and did it. I was really glad that I did it because I noticed that I had a lot of fun, even though I was nervous doing it. After awhile though I started to loosen up and feel more relaxed . I realized it was really fun and I had lots of fun!  I was really glad I did it. I'm not so sure what made me go up and start doing the salsa, but I'm glad I did.

career essay

Paul Roeun                       Career Essay
9/30/13

The career that I pursue is one day that I hope to be an engineer some day. I want to become an engineer because I think that my skills will show best in that area. Also people seem like they enjoy their jobs in the engineering department. But there are certain things that we have to worry about as being an engineer. For example u can get injured during certain things while working.

The minimum requirements to becoming an engineer requires a bachelor's degree from a university accredited  engineering program. Engineering  also requires a bit of math involved with most engineering programs or similar  degrees. If you are trying to be an engineer expect to take the following courses; algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. you will also be expected to take a large variety of science coursework. University engineering programs require students to complete two years of high school algebra and one year of trigonometry for admissions.

The experiences that I can gain now to have more chances is I would have to focus more during classes and work harder for my goals. Also take more math classes and science classes. Ask people that have done this before. I can join math clubs to gain more math skills. Try to get some hands on experience.

The median yearly pay for recent college graduates with full-time jobs was $53,976 in 2010. The median yearly pay for recent college graduates with full-time jobs was $53,976 in 2010. But those in engineering roles can expect to have an average salary of $77,120, more than 71 percent higher than the national average. study revealed that engineer is the second-most difficult position to fill nationwide. Of the 15 majors that command the highest compensation for recent grads, 10 are engineering degrees, including mechanical engineering technology and electrical and electronics engineering technology.

It's no secret that engineers are a dime a dozen. There can never be enough engineers in the world to start building and improving things. Mechanical engineers are on monster's low demand list, there has been 3% hiring demand increase from 2011, and over 42,000 job ads posted online in the past 90 days.

Impression of myself

Paul Roeun                      Impression of myself
9/23/13

If I was to see myself walk in the door, the first impression I would have of myself I would think that he was quiet by the way that he doesn't talk to anyone. I would also think that he was weird because of his actions. He also has a baby face and how does his hair stay up. Possibly he doesn't seem to be friendly. I would try to find some ways to be friends with him.

                                                 Standardized testing

Standardized testing to me means that it will be a long hard week of testing. This standardized testing will make us have a better future in some point. The way that I felt about this test was it caused me to have anxiety. My thoughts on it was the standardized testing was not as hard as expected. I felt shocked that we had to stay in a room for a long period of time.

The problem with this testing is that the state knows we are struggling with these tests. The test is hard because the questions are sometimes confusing. Also some of the things we learn is sometimes not on the test. Its hard to focus during these tests. Testing is even harder when you are in a class room for a long period of time.

I believe that I am not the only one that believes that this test is harder then expect. This test is unfair in many ways such as people that don't know English will struggle during these test. If they can't understand this test how would they be able to pass?
School is mean't for learning. So why are we taking these tests that take up to a month to complete?  That time can be used to give us a further education.
